Default Should the Prince of Death kill population?

Currently in CB the prince of death is taken down a notch by raising the point cost, but it occurred to me a more thematic change might be population killing along the lines of the Harvester of Sorrows. So, aside from the issues of how many points he would cost if that were the case, would people find the change thematic or simply annoying?

I do think its thematic. However I think it would cripple usage of the prince.

If you make him cheap again and let him kill population, it won't balance him imho. Just add more min-maxing; Mictlan lives with Ermor-style dominions, and still manages to do more or less ok.
Maybe a slight cost reduction, and a Hinnom-style population-eating instead of Reaper effect. (He does not eat people, of course, just causes some deaths now and then). Because thematically, yes, it makes sense.

I like it. Reduce the cost back to 100, and add the reaper ability. It might be slightly better than the PoD now, IF players make careful use of him. Also I love the idea of an enemy PoD flying around as a raider, spreading death wherever he goes. Mechanically, it would encourage using the prince to attack, which is always a good thing.

Hmm, which nation would need a SC god for raiding?

If he killrd population he would be unattractive for taking indies/defence, which would be the main reason for taking a SC imo.

It is thematic, though.

Why change only PoD than, why not Lord of the Summer Plague to be a plague carrier, Lord of Rebirth should be immortal, Mother of Serpents should be able to call serpents and so on...

PoD seems like a fine pretender at the moment. He's already got plenty of problems. It's often difficult to forge gear for him at the beginning of the game, and he dies easily to undead counters like Dust-To-Dust, or even simple elemental damage. I don't see the reason to make him even more unattractive.

It's not like he's an uber-pretender or anything. I know I never picked him.

It would be thematic, though. You could add it just for flavor, but make the number small enough.

If you're doing it for thematic reasons instead of balance, maybe in addition to killing pop he could produce death gems. Harvesting their souls, as it were.
