Re: No Power
Heh, they're saying 3 million in the Houston area without power and it's gonna be 3-4 weeks before some of them have it restored. I'm staying in Dallas at the moment, talking to friends and neighbors who stayed there it's hot and miserable with no stores open.

Re: No Power
Hope you are ok Baalz. Hurricanes suck. No power in the summer sucks, though thankfully a cool front has come through the south so temperatures are not as miserable as they could be.
Good Luck!
My relatives in Houston are without power and they are all safe and able to text. None are very comfortable or happy. Apparently ice is a "hot" commodity and none can be found anywhere(:

Re: No Power
How hot is it to be so bad? Humid also?
We get some pretty solid heat here in perth (western australia) but its rarely so bad I can't survive without aircon, although sleeping can be difficult. Until I moved into my current place a couple of years ago I've never had it at home. Our heat is dry though, if it was that hot and also humid it might be a different story

Re: No Power
Well immediately after a hurricane, I'm going to bet that it's humid.
I only drove through Texas once, but it seemed rather arid to me. I actually didn't mind the heat at all, though we were chasing a 500+ mile wide storm front through the state, so I suppose it could have been even drier. Now Florida on the other hand..... I don't even understand why people live there. In my estimation, between 10am-8pm, there is only one way to describe the climate in Florida - Hell On Earth.
Anyway, good luck to all affected. <3

Miami averages 71% humidity. The air here can best be described as pea soup. People say that miami doesn't have seasons. But we do.
Hot. Hotter n hell, and hot enought to melt the filings from your teeth. I've had days in other states over 100 that didn't even begin to touch the misery of miami in the summer.
We had 60 or 80 thousand people lose power (people forget ike went through here first).

Re: No Power
Well, Houston is basically a swamp. Texas has almost every kind of climate, but in Houston most people describe it as living in somebody's armpit. With no AC I do believe it would constitute torture to force somebody to live there....
