How do you like your Prince of Death? / Abysia

Rare? Medium-rare? Or well done? Seriously though, I'm wondering how people like to configure, use and equip their PoD during early and mid game. (I'm assuming that it becomes obsolete by late game.)

Right now I'm considering building a PoD for MA Abysia, however, considering Abysia's staggering lack of diversity, but decent early game power, I'm not sure whether I should take a more diverse pretender (perhaps a rainbow), or simply focus on early expansion speed and try to expand my diversity by trading or searching for good indie mage sites.
