Hmmm, odd
1.) The manual says Bone Grinding is an MR-easy save to avoid being crippled. This is quite exciting to me because Crippled is probably the worst affliction for a melee unit to get. When I tested this (D9 caster vs. Ulm) I saw lots of Limps, Missing Arms, etc., but no Cripples. Should I re-test with higher penetration, or does the spell just give a random affliction?
2.) Noticed something funny in a test battle with a thug. Soul Vortex pushes you above 100% HP. My thug took many wounds, but did not get any afflictions as long as his HP was above 100%. As soon as his HP dropped below 100% he started accumulating many afflictions. If Soul Vortex/life drain protects you from afflictions it's much better than I had thought. Anyone else noticed this?

Re: Hmmm, odd
1) I think thats just flavor text. Bone Grinding is just a regular damage spell.
2) Life drain of any kind can push you over your max hp limit. Can't remember what the percentage is.
As for the afflictions... I dunno about that. I suppose its possible you cant be afflicted if your are over your max? Are you sure you just didnt happen to take big enough damage?

2.) Not 100% sure. It was only one combat. One the other hand, Wraith Lords typically don't pick up many afflictions in my combats and this might be one factor. I may test this more extensively later but I wanted to check the forums first to see if this is known behavior.

"An attack on every unit in the battlefield, including friendly units, doing 3 points of damage and ignoring armor. In addition, units must make a magic resistance roll at +4 to avoid becoming Crippled (recieving the Crippled affliction)."
Doesn't sound like flavor text to me. Did you try it with some +penetration?

Re: Hmmm, odd
No items. He was D9, so that's +1 penetration there, and it was Ulm after all... I expected to see *something* on at least a quarter of the units. Plenty of afflictions, no crippling on the 8 or 9 units I looked at.

Re: Hmmm, odd
Well, +1 penetration on a MR Easy check is still -3 and will only succeed 24% of the time on the DRN. So it's within the realm of possibility that you just missed them if you only checked 8 or 9.
Give it another shot, I say!

Maybe the chance to acquire is based on the percentage your HP has dropped below 100%?

Re: Hmmm, odd
IIRC Officially the chance of getting an affliction is (HP_LOST)/(MAX_HP)
