Default Really newbish battlefield spell question

Really, really newbish.

Do battlefield-wide enchantment spells (ie, Astral Tempest) effect YOUR troops as well your enemies? Sticking with the Astral Tempest example, if I were to cast it, would MY non-mindless troops take damage just like my opponent's? Is the answer the same for all battlefield enchantments? Thanks...

Most spells of that type do indeed affect both sides of the battle. The one example that comes to mind that only affects your enemy is Curse of Stones. (and the army-wide buffing spells only affect your own troops obviously)

In any case, the manual should be quite clear on who is affected I think. If it says 'everyone' or 'the entire battlefield' that's exactly what it means.

Exactly. That's what makes spells like Warriors of Muspelheim, etc., valuable, because if *you* know you're about to drop a poison-bomb on the battlefield you can script a poison-resistance spell first, etc.

Astral Tempest, Wrathful Skies etc. create effects on random squares on the battlefield. Those can hit the enemy as well as your troops. Earthquake and others even target the whole battlefield.

Also might be noted that stacking resistances isn't nearly as powerful as, say, in Dom 2 (in particular, resistances from wide-area spells don't stack with each other, IIRC), making units with intrinsic partial resistances (ex. EA TC W5E, C'tis units with 50% PR, the High Caelian units with 50% SR, etc) that much more valuable. 100% total immunity after boosting is far, far better than 50% resistance after boosting...
