AI question

Is there any way to get the AI to capture the provinces surrounding it's capital before it wonders off to seek out other pretenders leaving a line of provinces back to it's capital?

Try making the indepts stronger.
Turning down the resources tends to make the AI stronger also if thats what you are hoping for.
