A large map (200 x 160) featuring a fictional iraqi town on the Tigris and the surrounding countryside.
An extremely extensive modification of a map included in the game.

Since it was appreciated I have begun working on an improved version. The uniform red rough of the SAM battery mountain would be replaced by a mixed pattern of desert rough, red rough and earth (I was dying to use red rough but it is a bit cheesy in this contest). Minor changes here and there to remove the hexagonal pattern still evident in some areas and assorted small improvements. If anybody can point mew some websites with a good collection of iraqi landscape pictures I would appreciate. So far I have only found small collections but I do not have much time for extensive google-fu.
The map was based on map n. 71, although if compare it you will find that there are not a lot of hexes left untouched. It is supposed to represent a city in an alternate history, more economically developed, Iraq. It is made to go hand in hand with my iraqi OOB mod.
Speaking of historical maps I have started drawing an other large (200 x 160) map. This is supposed to represent
a portion of open desert (although there are a few structures) along the Highway of Death, between Camp Buehring and Al Jahra. It is based on a high resolution Google Earth picture. Don't hold your breath though, as at the present time real life and the aforementioned mod come first.
The new version of the map is up. In addition to the SAM battery hill the access to the railroad station has been improved, as well as various others minor modifications.
