Re: Big Cheese Thread ~~~
Missle armed frigates vs AI designed DUC Ships. Move towards the enemy until you are about a screen away, then turn to one side start moving away from them at an angle so that they are closing in on you. Once they get withing your weapons range change headign again so you are ehading away from them. You will be able to kill entire fleets with just one ship. Also if you disable allt heir weapons, they will try to flee. I suggest hitting them till some of their engines are damaged so you can catch up to them and kill them.
At the start of the game, make a freighter armed with 10-20 troops. I suggest your troops have atleast lvl 3 armor and one lvl 4+ small uranium cannon. Then take your ship directly for the first enemy homeworld you can find. Usually they will be totally unguarded at this stage of the game. Start combat and drop your troops on the planet. Or if you set your strategy to planet capture, just sit back and enjoy. The planet will be yours after all other players have finished moving (And ofcourse with some brief ground combat). Just dont neglact engines on your troops, this isn't SE IV!!!!

You can colonize planets without any population in your cargohold! Your ship's crew will be converted into 1M population. (To be changed in the patch a bit) And with migration your colony will grow no problem. You can use the cargo space on your colony ship for a weapon's platform or satelite instead.

You can pick both Natuarlly Depressed and Emotionless in the race setup. So your Emotionless pick will only cost you 500 points!

Fighters make better ground troops than ground troops! More weapons, can take more damage, move faster, and are not hindered in their movement by obsticles.

Re: Big Cheese Thread ~~~
Most of these exploits will likely be fixed in the next patch.
Also, it's far more challenging to depend on the AI during combat. Although it is somewhat weak, it mostly just needs to be patched and then there will be an entirely new dimension of gameplay in learning how to make the best use of the combat AI, like in SE4.

I think this is exactly as it should be. Maybe the cost of troops vs fighters needs to be adjusted, but airpower should beat a tank any day.
