Yiikes! What happened to sim-turn type?
So I install the patch and the lovely Balance mod, then set up a nice first-time game with the full version. Everything looks good, very many of my demo-issues are gone with the patch, etc. Then it happens: I press end-turn. Nothing could have prepared me for that experience:
->Loading Data Types
->Loading Bitmaps
->Loading Game
->Processing Turn...
->Loading Data Types
->Loading Bitmaps
->Loading Game
->Login
Sitting there wondering about why the game is loading the 'Data Types', 'Bitmaps' and 'Game' in the first place( I'm already playing the game and have loaded all that! Why not just go straight to the processing? ) and then requires me to actually 'Login', I get another shock when it turns out my System View camera thingy has actually reset to that completely awkward default.
Okay, granted, it's supposedly a 'Hot-seat'ish' mode, but seriously...? It worked perfectly in SE4 to play single-player Sim-mode( which is what I prefer), but here it's far more trouble than it's worth. First it shouldn't need to reload all those things both before and after turn processing, secondly it shouldn't require a 'Login' with only one human player registered( only when loading the game, ala SE4) and finally it should save the camera settings for each human player in hot-seat mode.
Would I be better off sending this to Aaron, or is this something that has come up? I can't be the only one that plays Sim-mode in single-player?

Re: Yiikes! What happened to sim-turn type?
Huh?
Aren't you overreacting just a *little*?
It isn't any trouble at all, just a progress bar.
That said, it does seem to be a bit inefficient, but if you think of it as being a regular simul game with autohosting and auto-load after, you can see how it would come about.
Reloading is probably useful for recalculating the formulae (especially the ones not based on straight tech levels instead of component level for example) each turn as well.

Re: Yiikes! What happened to sim-turn type?
To my knowledge SE 4 didn't do it. Besides, that wasn't really the major issue, even if it took up most the post-space; it's the combination of these things: the loading in addition to the completely unncessary and tedious login, the very annoying camera defaulting issue, and the fact that I have to disable the 'lock system view' button and re-adjust the camera for every single turn I process.
*PS*
I over-dramatized it on purpose, I didn't actually cry or get angry or some such *_*

Re: Yiikes! What happened to sim-turn type?
For thise I agree. If there is only one human player, and the password is null, it should auto-login. Independent of game mode really, that could be built right into the login screen.
The camera is definitely annoying.
Better than a couple patches ago when it would always start upside down for me. (180 degree turn, so left on the galaxy map was right on the system map, oy.)

I sent him a mail about it. Hopefully not too minor a problem for him to look into.

SE4 did not have formula-based data, which can most certainly change as the game situation changes (eg: there is a function you can use to get current game date...).

Re: Yiikes! What happened to sim-turn type?
But in that case wouldn't the same apply for regular sequential-turn mode too?
