Default Different game objectives

Ive been kicking around two type of PBW SEIV games with objectives other than eliminate all other players and wanted to see what others thought.

The first is based off of Illuminati game where each player has there own objective to win based on their secret society.

Here is an example of the societies with adjusted goals for SEIV. Im not sure what values would make them balanced, also I dont known how the societies would be randomly assigned in secrete. It would probably require a non player game master. Some goals would require a screen shot or other proof send to the game master to keep track.

Bavarian - Fleet of X baseships.
Discordian - a colony in X systems.
UFOs - Chose one of the objectives.
Assassins - glass X systems.
Network - Research max tech in specific fields such as (SM & Research.)
Servants of Cthulhu - destroy 2 other players.
Bermuda Triangle - Capture a population sample from every player.
Gnomes of Zrich - horde X amount of resources

The second type of game it what I call a turkey shoot. Basic game, but with lots of computer controlled races. The player that takes out the most computer controlled races would be the winner. If there is a tie, then the player that has captured the most sample of computer controlled races, then the total population of captured races.

About 2 years ago I had an idea to do an SEIV Contest game. I had started work on a custom map but had a computer crash and lost it. Basicly, there were 3 sections. Each section had space for 3 empires (approx 3 systems per empire).

All the sections had a single path towards the center blocked by a damaging warp point. There were several systems that had to be passed on the way there. Each system represented an additional SEIV challenge to overcome (cloaking nebula, black hole, Hostile AI race).

In the center were 6 systems loaded with "points planets". The winner of the game was determined by the number of "points planets" colonized. 1 point per planet if different atmosphere type, 2 points per planet if same atmosphere type.

I think there were a couple of people that were interested but not enough for me to start working on the map again.

Since this was a Contest of SEIV skills, it was a stock game.

I was a big fan of Illuminati. I like the idea.

"Servants of Cthulhu" nitpick... I have found it is very hard to destroy another player, especially if...

1) Multiple people are attacking.

2) There are places to hide and they want to hide.

3) There are other enemy allies willing to gift or trade for places deep in their empire, but not near the original enemy. This would be especially true if everyone knew you would win by killing them and knew it would be bad to let them die.

A possible fix would be to have the "Homeworld" be counted as the player. Taking out a homeworld would be the end for that player. They could be initially set with a strong guard that must be overcome. This could fit in to the initial game of loosing the Illuminati card cause you to loose everything attached to it.

This sounds like fun... I would join an Illuminati game if you started one!
This actually reminds me of a game I once participated in - can't remember what it was called, but I think it was one of Puke's - in which everyone had a secret target and the winner of the game was the player whose target was wiped out first, no matter who did it!

I use to have an Illuminati Bumber sticker that said:
"Assasins do it from behind!"

Unknown Enemy hosted a PBW game (Paranoia) which had this objective. Randawl... erh, I'm not 100% sure about the exact spelling of his nickname... well, the Aussie who doesn't like being called Randy won that one. There were probably other such games, of course.

I've never played in a game like that. Having alternative objectives sounds interesting.
