Hi fellow wargamers!
I am working on a UN campaign set in West Africa as a fictious sequel to a the civil war in The Ivory Coast.
The player will command Coy sized units and Taskforces in very diverse kinds of missions and the nationality of troops will vary under the UN flag. I have tried to make the battles as open as possible but with a clear and stated objective. There will be surprises and the focus will therefore always have to be on force protection. Own losses will need to be held at a minimum , but its also good to remember that "Who dares wins".
OP IVORY DART is a demo mission constructed to try out some things as well as getting a second opinion from the community on how this kind of mission works. Is it to blurry and unpredictable, or does the mission offer the qualities it was designed for. A standard playtest report is enclosed in this zip-file and I would really like your response to be able to put the campaign together. If you have the time, please fill it out and send it back to me as a e-mail or just give me short feedback here in the thread.
So what happens in OP IVORY DART, then?
You will in this mission act as the 2 IC of the Swedish 3.Mech Inf Coy. You are together with 1.Plt currently stationed at a Vehicle Checkpoint (VCP4) outside a small village.
Your mission is to monitor and control traffic on the road passing your AOR. Drugs and weapons are frequently smuggled between neighbouring countries and you have been fairly succesfull in interdicting this trade.
The Dago Coffe planation to the north is abandoned, and the reason that you presently are at VCP4. You are personally doing a recce for a new coy camp at the plantation.
The fighting has died down and your CO wants to spread out his forces to better monitor the area. You however dont share his optimism and think its better to be safe than sorry. The talk in the mess is that some rebel groups have some serious firepower hidden away in the jungle, both tanks and aircrafts. But that is just regarded as talk unless someone can prove otherwise...

"You are sitting on the hood of your MB Gelnderwagen sweating and eating a banana when you suddenly see a big white aircraft breaking thorugh the thick cloud cover . Its on fire and decending rapidly and out of view behind the ridge and that ancient temple just north of you. You get on your feet, toss the banana and run to the platoon CP and the radio room. Finally some action..."
