Default Funny Behaviour

Greetings,

I am playing against the computer with the AI at the highest level of difficulties.
I am using the weaponry based on the organic technology and it is at level 5.

One of the computer is massing in front of my frontier fleet ships. Each turn, about 10-15 ships are coming (size battleship, cruisers and dreadnought) and mass in front of my fleet. There are now over than 150 ships.

I tried a few times to kill them and my (now huge counter-fleet) fleet of dreadnought, baseships is getting killed even if I outnumber by tonnage and technology level the enemy.

My ships are equipped with heavy mount seeking spores, 10 organic armors and level 5 ECM and targetting comps (can't recall the exact name). The enemy ships are equipped with 500 points shields, heavy mount photon torpedoes and heavy mount direct hit weapons.

Even if I am at 1 square, my weapons do no effect on the shields or the armor. I even equipped some ships with shield skipping weapons and the damages are very limited.

The only strategy I found out to take it out, is to use warheads and ram the enemy ships.

Anyone has any idea what is going wrong? If you need a more precise description, I can write back in 10 hours and put the exact configurations.

Thank you

The only way I found out how to beat them

Please attach your save-game and say what version/mods. Then it can be seen.

Perhaps they have shield rechargers?

Greetings,

When I fire in tactical, I don't see the blue line representing the shield line decreasing at all.

I'll attach the saved game in 9 hours about.

Thank you

Oh, the shield line only represents so much. You'll see it if their shields get down to low, low levels.

Greetings,

I badly wrote what I wanted to say. When you right cick on the enemy ship, you see the value of the shield X/Y (i.e:1000/1000 when not damaged), and it does not go down either. It is like the ship is not beeing hit at all.

Thank you

He said heavy mount seeking spores... maybe the mod he's using offers heavy seeker mounts... which will say they will work, but won't work in practice - they'll do whatever the unmounted damage is, and that might not be enough to do any real damage.

Greetings,

I am using the nornal SEIV. Here are some more infos I gathered and corrections:
- The race I am fighting against has very good defense and good attack modifier. I let mine to 100% attack and 100% defense. However, I am berserker race modifier.
- The enemy ships are equiped with massive mount Antimatter torpedoes III (2x), massive mount Anti-Proton beam III (4x), Shield Generator 4 (2x), ECM 1 and Multiplex Tracker 2.
- My classes of attack ship use ECM 3 and Multiplex tracking 5:
- Massive mount envelop acid globules 2 (4x) and massive mount null space projector 3 (3x)
- Massive mount polaron beam 3 (4x) and massive mount graviton hellbore 3 (2x)
- Seeking acids organic thing (forgot to write them down...) (8x)

The only ships that can do some damage are the ones with the polaron and the hellbore. All the other are doing no damage at all. It seems they don't hit at all.

Thank you

I thought he said there were some direct fire weapons in the mix on his ships.....

Mounts are there.

One thing I do see lacking is the Combat Sensors to increase hit chance. Those should be a must for all attack ships.

Also, are you training any of your ships? IMO, that is a biggie to do - can give you an additional 40% (both ship and fleet training). You can have the best weapons in the game, but if you can't hit the target, they don't mean anything.

Lastly, get the advanced armor types (both Scattering and Stealth). AT level III, those 2 components add 30% to your defense.

Just my $.02
