Default Happiness Problems?

I'm playing a neutral player in a PBEM game with 16 players and are using the new patch. I noticed that over the Last 7 turns my happiness has not moved off of Indifferent. I've acepted no treaties and have some warships over my worlds. Why are my people so sad and why are they not increasing?

I did take a low Disaster Tolerance. Something I've not done in my other games. But I don't think this effects happiness...

Help???

I think happiness normally tends to get worse. If you don't give them something to be happy about they will eventually riot, damn ungrateful peons

Actually anger goes down over time.

Peaceful & bloodthirsty lose 20 anger/turn.
The xenophobes lose 50 /turn

It seems that indifferent is normal.
You would have to make your people happy to get them above indifferent.

So, bloodthirsty races kill, Peaceful ones make treaties, xenophobes just have to build pacification centers.

edit:
Oh, yeah, AND, troops and ships will boost your happiness, so load up with troops & soon you people will be jubilant (at least when the troops are looking )

Seems the best rule is to put a UPC (or TVF, if you're Temporal) in every system. And, for a neutral, avoid doing anything at all... heh. It's a tough one to keep Jubilant, I suspect (compared to, say, Peaceful in a huge quadrant -- the vast amount of colonization and production you do keeps 'em happy and busy).

At the end of the Happiness file for each type of there are two entries.
Natural Decrease and Natural Decrease for other Races.
I have no idea what the Natural Decrease for Other Races refers to.
The Natural Decrease is negative for all types and the other is Positive.
Seems like you should get happy over time if you just sit there but my people tend to get PO'd if I do nothing.

I would suspect that natural decrease for others means "aliens that I have captured", so If you're using aliens to colonize planets you can't breathe, they will lose anger at a different rate.
