question on castle storming
I have three questions regarding the timing of castle storming. Forgive me if these are addressed elsewhere-- I think the situation is special enough that it may be novel.
I have a force sieging a castle. The enemy still has a single soldier (not a commander) in the castle at least according to the battle record from Last turn's failed effort to storm the castle (all commanders retreated). I also have forces in two adjacet provinces. The enemy has a large force in another province adjacent to the castle.
1) If I storm with the force already seiging the castle, will they enter the castle and have an opportunity to kill the sole remaining soldier before his forces can come to the rescue? (In which case, I suppose that soldier, being leaderless, would flee, right?)
2) If he and I both send our forces from adjacent provinces, will we fight outside the castle, or will the forces friendly to the castle enter the castle and help defend it?
3) If my current sieging forces can expunge the one soldier left defending, and he moves in, does he then wind up sieging?
Thanks!
Merry

Nope. Storming a castle is the Last and final battle in a turn. Magical battles (Only from independent sending spells like ghost riders), then siege breakers and reinforcements from other provinces, then the castle gets stormed.

Anybody set to break siege will fight in the same battle as anybody moving in from an outside province.

He'll move in before you get a chance to storm the castle, so this can't occur.

Re: question on castle storming
Thank you.
One point is still not clear to me:
When you say, "Anybody set to break siege will fight in the same battle as anybody moving in from an outside province."
will this battle take place outside the castle in open land, or will the defenders somehow sneak past me, and defend from within the castle?

Re: question on castle storming
Here's what will happen:
My main army will crush your seiging force while my brave, lone little vine man will continue to defend the castle against the forces of evil.
It's sad when I find out about the status of my game from the board

The battle takes place outside the castle. The guys breaking siege all run outside and join whatever friendly forces are moving into the province that turn.

Re: question on castle storming
Merry look up the section in the manual on how the turns are resolved. It will show you the order of events which happen every turn and give you a clear guide to all further questions about ordering.
To just run it down quickly in terms of combat, you'd have:
Magic Combat (teleports, remote summons, etc)
Assassinations
Regular Combat
Fort Storming
