T\'ien Chi super combatant wizards?
I'm curious to know if anyone has managed to create a T'ien C'hi (Spring and Autumn) wizard -e.g. Celestial Master (others?) who is a viable combatant. With so few hit points, they seem very weak, and so I just have them cast spells from the rear.
Also, can a team of wizards only (no troops) win? I'm picturing the Chinese heroes in movies who know karate and are magical, going up against hordes. But, it seems that when one hero dies and their are no troops, the whole group routes. This is strange because when the special event where your province is attacked by the troll raider and his group, this does not appear to be the case (despite the fact that they are all heroes).
Thanks,
Merry

On a slightly similar note I saw R'lyehian PD commander who didn't rout after his forces first routed and then died. Continued bLasting whole time, until my troops took him down. Some 'real' recruits (ichtyids) were in the defenders. It seems that there are exceptions to both "Commanders rout after all troops are dead/routing" and "Commanders rout if only bodyguards/commanders were left one one of the guards/commanders died" -rules.

It's looked to me like, for PD, if all the troops die in one turn, but the leader is alive, then the leader has a good chance to charge in. If the troops die slowly enough that they have time to take a morale check and rout, then the leader tends to rout with them.

You mean a combatant in the sense of a melee mage? I suppose the immortal heroes could pull it off, they wont rout in their own dominion -- but why would you want that? My Tien super-duper mages kick much more butt casting spells than karate-chopping with a wraith sword....

Re: T\'ien Chi super combatant wizards?
Almost all TC mages' fighting skills aren't very good, which is either too bad or a good thing, depending on your point of view. If their attack and defense were in the 10-12 range, I'd indeed be very tempted to turn them into self-buffing SC's, since they're both sacred and able to cast good buff spells on themselves. Quickness + Fire/Water blessing plus ethereal, mirror image, various shields, etc... can get pretty scary.
It might make a good extra theme for TC, though. For a nation derived from a martial-arts-oriented culture, TC doesn't have many very skilled fighters.
