trade/gift bug???
I'm experiencing difficulties when doing gifts/trades, and it seems to get worse. The "Accept gift/trade" Messages often do not come through, and even if, the gift/trade does not take place, the items gifted/traded are not transferred.
I searched the forum and found some threads where this problem has been discussed, but only briefly, and already some time ago, with no solution offered. So I want to know if there has been done anything about it?
It has been repeatedly stated that it is difficult to reproduce (and because of that to track) this bug. Well, not for me in my current game (NGC3). It's far more diffcult *not* to reproduce it, that is to get a trade/gift through
This is extremly annoying, as this bug renders the gifting/trading feature of the game almost useless. Any idea what can be done to get the gifts/trades through?

Re: trade/gift bug???
This bug seems to be more often when sending the message is one of the first things you do in your turn.
If you get used to send your Messages as one of the Last things you do evey turn it's unlikely you'll see ths bug.

Re: trade/gift bug???
I had a lot of those message vanishings once. I've no clue why they disappear, but I think it's something you do when you play the turn which destroys the message, because I used to send Messages as soon as I opened the turn. Now it's the very Last thing I do and I haven't encountered the problem for a long time.

Re: trade/gift bug???
I had that feeling too, that the message gets damaged by something you do later during the turn, or if too much data is entered after it. I just did not test it extensively. It never happend to me at the start of a game when turns are pretty short, so this seems to confirm it too.
Unfortunately, reading Messages is one of the first things I do in a turn, and having a habit of doing the easy things first means accepting the gift/trade as one of the first things is kind of a reflex for me ![](http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif) .

If not already done, someone who can describe this in detail should submit this to MM.

Re: trade/gift bug???
Are they saving after doing diplomacy? If so, that could be the problem.

Re: trade/gift bug???
Is the problem that you can't save at all after doing diplomacy, or that you can't save and then load after doing diplomacy?

Re: trade/gift bug???
I do all diplo messages last and then End Turn, and haven't seen a problem since doing that.
Supposedly there is another problem if the Tribute message is used instead of the Gift or Trade message, too.
For the sake of completeness: There is an intel mission that can destroy diplomatic messages (as an intentional feature) too.

Re: trade/gift bug???
And for the sake of completeness, you probably want to stay away for Ask/Demand messages, and instead make a Trade when requesting something (just give them something pointless).
