Maybe we just didn't realize we only had 35 minutes to notice and respond.
First-hit WP is generally determined by the total damage absorbtion capacity of the WP. Lowest damage resistance total are hit first.
Therefore, one tactic is to build small WP's which are all armor and/or shields, and then medium or large WP's which have weapons and maybe some armor/shields, but whose total damage resistance is greater than the all-defense WP's. That way, the weapons keep firing as long as possible.
