Calling SJ
Sj: I've asked the same question in the B5 thread, but got no response from you. Doesn't matter, I'll just post it again.
Would you like to make a small range of armors for The Ancients of the B5 galaxy? Untill now they depended on the same armor as the rest of the races, but they're a million years old. They sure must have something far better by now. Would you like to do that?

Re: Calling SJ
Hadn't noticed, but sure.
Shouldn't take long with the Tech Gridder in hand.

Re: Calling SJ
Great, thanks!
btw, what is the Tech Gridder? Can it replace the SE4 Modder of DavidG?

Re: Calling SJ
Not exactly.
Its a specialized tool for generating multi-dimensional grid techs. It also handles multiple starting components, so you could do all your weapons at once, for example.
You plug in "Add 1 damage per level of tech A (20 levels)"
"Subtract 50 minerals cost per level of tech B (10 levels)"
"Multiply supply usage by 0.9 per level of tech C (10 levels)"
The Tech gridder goes ahead and creates all 2000 components for you. Takes a minute or two to process and write to disk, and then Poof! You have a very nice ~2 meg file to plug into your mod.
Tech gridder-generated components tend to zip up to a very small size. A 7 meg gridded Version of P&N, down to about 200kb, for example.
The SE4 modder is oriented towards editing single components and generating linear families of components (the kind of stuff I personally use Wordpad for)
If you currently use the SE4 modder, this won't change that. You'll just copy tech gridded components into your mod and use the SE4 modder to do the rest.

Re: Calling SJ
Hmm... yes. Well, I do have lots of weapons to make, so it won't be a waste of HD space. Where can I DL it?
