Borg AI question
This is mostly for Attrocities, but I'm having a problem with the Borg AI. This just occurred yesterday, after I'm playing this game for the past couple of weeks. Anyway, I'm getting a list of error Messages saying something like it can't find Special Technology in the Borg_AI_Research text file. I'm wondering if it means that the Special Techology should actually be named Borg Technology, since that's the name I see in the Borg components text file. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Re: Borg AI question
If it is my Borg AI that you are running, you need to ensure that the TechArea.txt and Components.txt that came with the AI are in your Data directory.
Alternately, if you are using a mod, you must copy the Borg Technology entry at the end of the Borg TechArea.txt file into your TechArea.txt file. Also, you must copy the Borg components at the end of the Borg Components.txt file into your Components.txt file.
Either of the above should fix your problem.

GE

Re: Borg AI question
God Emperor, it is your AI. I just downloaded v1.77 the other day and updated my Borg file. After I did this was when I started having my problem. I did copy both files into the Data folder of both the original game and the mod (which is TDM, btw). I thought that should have taken care of the problem, but I'm still getting that error message. something about not find "special technology" in the Borg_AI_Research.txt. So I don't know what the problem is. Any ideas?

Re: Borg AI question
@gregebowman
Hmmm, not sure what the problem is. Been playing a game myself for 230 turns without any problems.
I havent downloaded the latest Version of Mod-pack myself (been busy at work and have been happy to continue my long game) but I will do so on the weekend and check the files to see if something has crept in.
Have just completed an update which I just need to playtest a little before I can post.
Will get back to you on Sunday night.
Regards,
GE

Re: Borg AI question
The Borg in SE4 are just plain wimps. Somebody please make them really scary and menacing. Try crossing them with the spacemonsters tech and AI.

Re: Borg AI question
@gregebowman
Have downloaded the 1.78 path for SE4Gold and noticed a few changes that may have affected the Borg technology. I have modified the files and will post shortly.
Have just run a new game with all tech for 15 turns without any problems. Will begin a new game with normal start and see if I can find any problems.
I suggest that you download the new files and give it a try too.
Regards,
GE
PS: @Urendi: I am a little surprised with your comments regarding the Borg, if you are referring to my AI (there are several around).
I have found that in large galaxies with low bonus and high AI difficulty, the Borg are invariably in the top three for most of the game. Hopefully the files I have tweaked will make them even tougher.
