I find that in scenarios with lots of APCs bottlenecked into a small area, they tend to stop, unload, and reload their infantry repeatedly. This goes on for the entire game. Here's my save, play as AI vs AI.

Edit: Save file is broken, see below.

My uneducated opinion is that this is the SPMBT equivalent of a pathfinding traffic jam in real time strategy games. I don't know if my save will replicate the problem on your machine. I'm running CD version, upgraded to 6.0.

I've seen the AI do the same thing from time-to-time.

It seems to happen most when the vehicles are moving at slower speeds.
Say if you use plotting and want them to creep along rather then move full out.

Not sure if this info will help track down whatever's causing this to happen ... but ... who knows.

What's odd is that even when every APC on the screen is dead, you still get the "infantry unit X loading into APC Y" messages.

This last save shows the end turn of a campaign .

As well, BOTH of these were crashing my game becasue the CMT wasn't right. It appears "save" had been edited in by hand

As well, I just tried DLing the first save again and get the end of the 38th battle of a campaign

It was, it ran fine on my machine unless I attached the wrong file. I don't have the original anymore. I'll try re-downloading my original.

Sorry, I'll let you know if I see it happening again. Thanks for looking into it.

I did upload the wrong file, sorry. The OP file doesn't run on my machine.

I built a scenario to try to recreate the problem. Run AI vs AI, fast artillery low message delay, grab some coffee for a few minutes, by Turn 3 there's loading and unloading going on repeatedly.

In the games I have played, this happens sometimes (rarely, thankfully) during assault missions in open terrain when assaulting AI APCs run into mines.

Mines seem to be important to causing this.

Another negative core points problem.

I've been mass deleting/rebuying units several times in a long campaign. After the last mission I went to the core repair screen and had ~9000 repair points left. I went to "expand core" and my available points went from ~9000 to -55820 and then to several million as I tried unsuccesfuly to buy more helicopters. After leaving the "expand core" screen I can't go back again, and I can't repair any of my troops either.

Looks like my extremely high repair points overflowed into the negative. My force consists of about 55,000 points worth of helos, an HQ and nothing else.

Additionally, I converted my HQ to an SA 10 and its unit icon isn't showing up in-game. Not even the default WinSPMBT icon shows up in its place, just a blank hex.

The SA 10 is still able to fire for the first turn of the game after being retreated off-map in deployment.

I'll let Andy deal with this but you do seem determined to prove if you do enough stupid things during a campaign the game will have it's version of a nervous breakdown

CONGRATULATIONS !! You proved something we already knew.

NORMAL players don't buy 55,000 points worth of helos.
NORMAL players don't, and SHOULD NOT, converted a HQ to an SA 10
NORMAL players DO NOT "mass deleting/rebuying units several times in a long campaign"

If these were real problems encountered by normal players during a campaign we'd have heard about it years ago

Would you buy a Ferrari and then complain the trasmission blew up when you got stuck in the swamp ?

On top of that this post has NOTHING to do with troop unloading and loading.
