Default Vanishing generals

This is a curious bug that has begun arrising in my game. I load the game, give a few orders to some generals, but then suddenly the option to select generals dissapears. They just don't exist on the left of my screen anymore, I can do nothing.
Is this an intentional gameplay feature?- you can only give so many orders or somesuch?
As its darn annoying...

That is either an anti-piracy feature, or a CD-Key error, depending on whether you have a ligitimate copy of the game or not.

If you do have a legit copy, then try updating to the most recent patch (3.26), finding and deleting a file called "key" in your Dominions folder, and then re-entering your CD-Key when prompted. That should take care of the disappearing commander menu/GUI.

Here is a link to the latest patch. (halfway down the page on the right)

And here (I think) is the link to customer support if you do have a genuine CD-Key problem.

Anotehr questions: Do you have lots of commanders in these provinces? If you have a lot, all of them are not shown simultaneously and you need to scroll the commander list with the arrows next to the commanders. You can also use the < and shift-< keyboard commands to adjust the size of your commander list (either shrink or enlarge).

I sometimes find that when my mouse cursor is on the right side of the screen if I bring up the orders menu it appears off screen (well most of its off-screen) to the right. I just close it, move the cursor to the left and open it again. No worries!

Yeah, I've had that happen to me a bunch, this is different though.

hmm, seems to be as you say, windows 7 being quirky. I can find nought. Guess I'll have to try and reinstall completely.
