Chalice and a new use possibility
This may not be 'New', but it is new to me.
Say my ally has the Chalice but he just will NOT let it go (even to lend it to me for 2 turns). Could he give it to a Scout or some other stealthy commander and park hin in a territory and I send my troops to him and will it heal them.
The way it is described, it will fix anyone in the province....doesn't say anything about whose troops they are.
Hmmmmm, if thats the case and I know nation A has the chalice and I an pretty sure its in his capitol, why couldn't I besiege his cap and my troops would have their afflictions healed as I attack him.
Anyone ever tried that, or know the answer?

Re: Chalice and a new use possibility
That would be interesting.
Ive often used the in-or-out of castle to allow allies to pass troops thru my territory. But never considered sharing province-effects like that.
But the castle thing might be safer than the scout. I think there is always a chance that a scout will be found, and fought, and lose the item for both of you.

I thought it was only if PD is 10+ or you have someone patrolling that a scout can be found...

Re: Chalice and a new use possibility
As valuable as the Chalice is, I think Gandolph was just reminding us that it is too important to take a chance with it, regardless of what is SUPPOSED to happen.

heh, that's what I've come to really enjoy about this game: I'm often surprised by results contrary to what I thought was a sure thing.

Re: Chalice and a new use possibility
The beginning assumption was that the ally felt the chalice was too precious to loan you by messaging. The scout thing sounds cool. I suppose you could be really REALLY careful to check the stealth level of the unit you are using (altho few people I think ever click the stealth icon and check the stealth level). Then you would trust that the other person has remember to not load the PD (most people put at least 1 automatically after they take a province as recommended in the game tips). And Im not certain but this game usually maintains a D&D feel of always having some slight chance of something happening. If nothing else there is always random events which can suddenly add PD on a province.
All in all the castle method would be safer for the person who was paranoid enough to want it to stay in their possession. Harder to do, but safer. Now someone needs to test and see if it can work. Id love to see a one-stop list of all the things that can be shared between allies. Scales, globals, item effects. Im sure that most will be listed as bad effects by the first poster. But in this game you can often get creative and find one nation or situation that can use that to an advantage.
