Damage death?
Soul slay is supposed to be damage death, but it isn't it is 999.
This I found out by trying to slay a Sphinx with 1000+ health that couldn't be killed differently with body etherial and luck and 30+ protection.
So after about 20-30 failed attempts one lucky soul slay strikes but he's still alive?
Would this mean that it can't be mind hunted since slay can't kill in first shot?
Feel free to share interesting situations like this one.

Re: Damage death?
It's a known issue. You can cast 30 shatters on him and he should be done.

He can be Mind Hunted. It just means that two successful Mind Hunts are needed.
This is because damage is healed at a certain point in the turn, so if you cast multiple rituals that damage enemies you can partially damage a unit with one ritual and then kill them with the next since it all takes place during the Ritual phase.

Mind hunt a sphinx? You've got to be kidding me! The thing has astral magic natively, so any mind hunter who tries gets feebleminded.

Not any. There's a chance it gets through without the hunter getting damaged.

Re: Damage death?
Yes, there's a chance, but it isn't very good from what I've seen.

Re: Damage death?
Well the Sphynx starts at S3, so if the chance of cutting the chord of the mind hunter really is 40% * S level, as stated by the manual, you don't have a chance ^_^
But a Black Bow of Botulf, and it becomes just an useless and cumbersome piece of rock in a square ^_^

Really? I thought it was just a straight percentage chance.
Oh well. I mean, it's not really a legit strategy to try to mind hunt astral SCs D:

Anyway from what I know it is never possible to mindhunt an astral mage.
