Awe weirdness

In my current game i made a virtue pretender with dom 10 so it stared with awe +7.
Later when i gave it a shield of gleaming gold it still only says awe +7 when hovering the mouse over the awe symbol but on the screen you get when clicking on the awe symbol it says awe +8.

Does anyone know if the shield of gleaming gold actually improves the awe or not in this case?

I wonder if it is just a case of the hover text not being updated properly for awe. Ideally, all of these items would get their values calculated from the same code, but it sounds like that is not the way it is set up.
