Default The black bow of botulf

Do you bother making these? in one of my multiplayer games we are in the late stages I have about 60 independent commanders running around with these things. One of my armies has 30 commanders in it. Mostly I am hoping they will feeblemind any teleporting/cloud trapezing SC's that try to drop in on my army that has alot of human mages and prevent the earthquake/ rain of stones.

Who was Botulf anyway? Wasnt he the guy who sold out the humans to the Cylons? Or was that Boltar?

Botulf is short for a pub around the corner where JK lives. Not been there for about 10 years though

Black bows are excellent for assassins at a certain stage of the game. Pretty well restricts their use to nations that get both competitively priced assassins and death magic, unfortunately.

An argument can be made for churning out a whole lot of black bows and equiping a dozen or more indie commanders with them. It's expensive in terms of gems but has a low research requirement and can be very effective against enemies that depend on relatively small numbers of elite units. Hardly a best-choice scenario but can be made to work.

If you can steal the "fire at mages" orders from the troll mage (one of bogus' crew) they are flat-out excellent battlefield weapons, but some people consider that cheating.

They can also be very economic ways to discourage teleporting thugs from raiding you.

The feeblemind effect happens without checking magic resistance. The arrow must deal damage for the effect to happen though, but there's a funny thing where another unit in the square will be feebleminded if the first one dies from the arrow.

Hello,
Some necrothreading for quick questions :
- does the feeblemind effect require a MR check ?
- does it require the target to take hp damage, or just be hit by an arrow ?
