Default Problem Connecting to TCP/IP Game

One of my players is not able to connect to a new game that I am hosting (thread where this is problem came up is here). We've tried a number of things along the way of debugging, but the upshot is that the player (Foodstamp) is able to connect to another game of mine on a different port (the first game is on 1024, the new one on 1025), but he's not able to connect to this new game.

He's able to connect to an arbitrary game on Gandalf's server (which happened to be using port 8982), so I set up a test game w/ 8982 on my machine. Still no luck.

Anyone have any insights/suggestions?

I'm serving from a Dell Dimension 4400 w/ Windows XP. This is the second instance of dominions running on the box, and nothing else is being done w/ the machine other than serving these 2 games.

Note: Please no comments on wusses who use Windows XP as a server are invited or required.

Since everyone else can connect, it's more likely the problem is on his end. Have him try to ping your ip.

I think it is a problem on my end too. But man it is weird that I can connect to his game in progress and random new games hosted by someone else.

I tried from both my computers now with no success.

Foodstamp,

I made one change on my router, could you please try the test game again. Again, port & IP are:

IP: 24.17.189.161
Port: 8982

A buddy and me had once a problem with connecting via Tcp/Ip during an online game. While other games worked and it worked in dom3 before we had to finally reinstall dom3 and then it worked without problems again.

Whatever you did, it worked for the 8982 game, but I cannot connect to the real game still.
