My humble apologies to all,
Hello all,
My humble apologies to all the folks that have been nothing but helpful to my friends and myself regarding SE 4, with special respect to Suicide Junkie and Aaron at MM.
I lost control the other day in a post and made some remarks that I should not have made. I'm not a programmer and never will be, and I'm very appreciative for Aaron giving us a great game with almost endless playability at a fantastic price.
Also to Suicide Junkie, for making adjustments to his Autohost program, without which my friends and myself would not be able to play SE 4 nearly as easily as we do.
I don't have any excuses for what I did other than I did not expect to find a bug in a game that had been in circulation for so long.
Again, my humble apologies.
Regards,
Rob aka dethgod74

Re: My humble apologies to all,
SEIV is fairly robust most of the time, but it still has some bugs. There's a list of them here, though little effort has been made to make sure it's up to date, clear, and accurate, and many of the bugs listed there are minor display issues and other stuff I wouldn't really call bugs. Just scanning it briefly, I also noticed at least one entry that was just a one-off "it crashed" with no information about what caused it besides that the game was big, and it appears that most of the entries were just copy/pasted without modification from the original report.

Are you volunteering to make such effort, Douglas?

Re: My humble apologies to all,
FYI guys,
We (The Eat Flaming Death Gaming Club, est. 1985) are able to reproduce this bug, so I didn't want you guys to think we were just a bunch of noobs whining about a mistake we made. Someone, Suicide Junkie I think, said we might be able to fix it by having the GM go into the game, and toggle the affected AIs to human control and toggle OFF the war declaration made by the affected AI races.
We're not through with testing this theory, but tonight the GM is going to release the AI from human control. If anyone is interested, I'll post our findings in this forum.
