Default Exactly how Far:Repulse weapon

Does anyone know how far in tactical combat the repluse weapon pushes away a ship.
Looking to see how many spaces or move points it will do. Always been afraid to use it as it seems not a great weapon,but I could be wrong if it can push ships away from range fire to other ships.

I think it pushes the number of spaces it says for 'damage' (ie, 3 is 3 spaces) same as trac beam. The 'cool' combo is to trac them in, hit them with hvy damage close range weapons (grav or null space) and then repulse them out. Repulser works great on big mounts on Defense bases, gets better range.(or an ER modded mount).

Yes, tractor/repulser are great weapons, when used in right combinations.

The tractor weapons has been already described, but i have another use for repulser.

Take a medium/heavy ship (cruiser->DN).
Arm it with medium/long weapons.
Put a repulser or two. And, make it be the largest mount possible.
Put it to the end of the weapons.
And what do we have?
You fire, do heavy damage (many weapons do heavy damage...), and then throw the enemy away, so it could not return fire...kinda useful, especialy against the AI.

Or, as a support weapon for those with slow firing rate - like seeker ships. Fire few seekers, and throw away anyone daring to come close enough.

But you shouldn't repulse the ship that your seekers are targeting, else the target will just get more chances to hit the seekers with PD... (well, assuming the enemy uses PD).

BTW - repulsers are especially effective against races with short-range weapons (the Drushocka in my game just researched High-Energy Weapons, so they're loading up on Ripper Beams; since I have a speed advantage, I can keep them at range 3 without repulsors, but the repulsor beam would have made it easier. It was still lots of fun watching 2 BC's wipe out 9 DNs!)

On a related note, I put a large-mount tractor beam on one of my ships, and then realized something. The distance I can pull a ship is greater than the range! IOW, the Tractor 3 has a range of 4 (IIRC), and with a large mount, the damage is 8! Fortunately, the game corrects for this and the ship is only pulled to range 1. But still, it's probably a waste to use the various ship mounts on a tractor beam. Since base mounts get range advantages, they can take full advantage of the larger-mount tractor beams.

Ahhh, but alarge mount repulor beam 3 could throw a ship halfway across the sector!

And of coarse, u can always repulse your own ships for a nice little boost of speed....
