OT: Something freaky....
I just stumbled across this, and thought I'd share it here.
It's really freaky, and even a little... unnerving...to me somehow.

A wonderful example of the direction CGI is heading,.. meaning making stuff that is photo-realistic and blends in well in a natural setting.
Some of the anim is blatant CGI/3D renderings, but a few are so well done that it would fool the average joe into thinking those plants were real.
Nice post, got more CGI examples?
Cheers!

Put me in the average joe camp. Not that they look like real plants, but I could swear a few of them look like physical models. Maybe like a stop motion thing. If that's all CGI I'm impressed, and a little spooked.

David, if you want to see the most topnotch digital artists (IMO) in the world, try http://www.cgsociety.org/
I'm constantly amazed at what I see there. Of course, I dare not post anything 'cause my stuff looks like stick figures in comparison. I joined last year (and just renewed) because you get access to some extra stuff but you can browse the forums and site free.
Go be amazed!
[edit] Oh, and that's the place I first saw that video last year.

All those eyes moving, blinking, watching... I agree it's unnerving. I wouldn't want to eat a salad when it's staring back at me with multiple eyes.

Hitting the "THIS VIDEO" link on that page gave me an attempted home-page hijack. Beware of spyware.
