OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
I'm a little bit curious about what other people's deepest, most heartfelt dreams and desires are. I know that I have a couple that will be with me always (until achieved), and are never too far from the forefront of my thoughts. I wonder if other's have such dreams that they would give almost anything to achieve, that would make them so incredibly happy if they did occur. Doesn't have to be realistic, one of mine sure isn't!
One of the things I yearn for the most is to travel space. I have ever since I can remember. It's a dream that I rarely go a day without thinking about at least once. I'd give almost anything to be able to travel into space, to see the wonder and the beauty of the universe with my own eyes, to travel to places no one else has ever seen...well you get the idea.
But of course, that's an impossible dream with our current state of technology. But hey, I can dream, right?
So, what are your deepest dreams and desires?

discover/invent a 100% efficient energy source that is infinitely renewable and environmentally sound. this is really part of a larger vision that I have: mankind lessening the footprint we leave on the planet and its ecosystems, living in tandem with mother nature vice shutting ourselves off. I don't consider myself a tree hugger by any means. it just seems logical that the more of a nuisance to nature we make ourselves, the more problems we will have trying to outsmart it. shame i'm not really in a career path to help with any of that! ha!

paraphrasing:
calvin - if you could have one wish, what would you wish for?
hobbes - i'd wish for a tuna sandwich
calvin - why wish for a tuna sandwich when you could have a MILLION DOLLARS?!
hobbes (eating a sandwich) - yeah, but MY wish came true.

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Ashton is totally right. even if you had more money than you could reasonably waste in your lifetime, you dont value it in the same way as if you had worked for it.
this isnt just true for money, but anything that you get without having to work for.
I think its safe to say that most people on this board either have had teenagers, or can remember being one. Or, in Mac's case, Grand-Teenagers Just think of how they treat that first car their parents buy them, compared to the second one that they have to pay for themselves. Think of how they act in college if they are working a part time job and fishing for their own grants and scolarships and loans, vs how they act if mommy and daddy are footing the bill for them.
Sure, theres exceptions. You might treasure a gift someone gives you more than you would something you got for yourself, due to sentimental value. but in general, freebies dont get the same reverance that is due something that you had to bleed for.
and if you think about it; things like rights, ideas, and values work the same way.
