Full Screen Screen Flashing

I have a LG Flatron L1750S, and in 800x600 full screen
mode; the screen occasionally flashes; double deuce over
on the SZO forums has said he's got the same problem;

Here are my system specs:

Asus A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 2600+
1024 MB RAM
Direct X 9.0c
GeForce 6800 (128MB)
Realtek AC97 Audio

Just playing the game "straight" - or have you alt-tabbed out and back in a few times, and maybe started other applications while it was minimised?.

If the latter - It's mentioned in the Manual, Tuning Your Machine section, Full screen sub-section.

Unlike many full screen DirectX games, we allow you to ALT-TAB out to the desktop from Full Screen DirectX mode. This is at your own risk of course!. However we have not noticed any real problems, except that sometimes on returning to the game you may get a "psychedelic" screen, as windows has destroyed the game palette. The cure for this is to go into a sub screen which disables and then re-enables the colour cycling. Thus if in the game screen, open the preferences screen and exit it and the game palette should be restored. This effect seems to be graphics card related. A few of our playtesters had this happen frequently, most had to really try to get it to happen and some never saw it. It also seems to be related to how many other programmes you had up and running either before you started the game, or tried to run while the game was ALT-TABBED to the task bar.

Is this what you mean by "flashing", and if so - were you ALT+TABBING in and out of the game?.

I play "straight" and it's not psychidelic colors; but more
of a screen corruption/flash that's on for like a second and
then things are back to normal; it's caused me some
concern, as I just got this monitor, and am very
worried about damaging it, etc.

Do you see all the colours change when this happens or just some of them? Does the flashing seem regular at all ( like every couple of minutes)?

The Flashing is a regular thing, every couple of minutes it
seems, and I looked closer at it, and it seems to me that the
entire screen goes all gray for a split second. I'll try to
get you video of the event with FRAPS.

- does it happen in windowed mode on that monitor?
- does it happen at a particular time/game screen/firing event etc?
- what exactly do you mean by "flashing"
- a few pisels in some field tiles (say) sparkle
- the entire screen goes white ?

If we can tie down the symptoms, then we can zoom in on it.

NB - this other person with the problem, what is similar with his box to yours (if anything)? - video card, flat screen monitor, motherboard etc. That info would probably help.

MarkSheppard - is probably talking about me. My screen does not go blank or anything. Mine is almost like a powersurge. I get the same thing when I unplug the powere suply to run off battery and vice-versa. The brightness goes up or down for a split second. In the case of WinSPMBT it goes brighter, not alot but noticable.

The one this is doing it on is an HP Laptop (Haven't tried it on my regular HP desktop PC).

When you notice these flashes? I mean, always or only when a specific menu is in sight(example, in the scenario selection menu)?
