Weapon Component Rating Question
Would appreciate any help with a weapon rating question I have. I am well into a game and noticed that an AI opponent has a ship outfitted with several "phased polaron beam V's" each has a damage rating of 180-165-165-165-150-150 while my own "phased polaron beam V's" only have a damage rating of 60-55-55-55-50-50... can someone advise why the AI's weapon is 3x as powerful as mine.... I have not noticed any such discrepancy with any other components...

Re: Weapon Component Rating Question
Weapon mounts.
On the bigger ships you can use bigger mounts, which increase damage as well as weapon size, and sometimes range as well.
The mount button is at the top-right of the design screen.

Re: Weapon Component Rating Question
The AI is using mounts and you are not.

Re: Weapon Component Rating Question
Mounts are fun If you dont noticed them yet, you missed a good portion of the game tactics/strategy, especially considering base and weapon platform mounts and stuff.

Re: Weapon Component Rating Question
It's always a headache when the AI schools you in something you feel like you should have figured out on your own.

It's not often that reading this forum makes me laugh out loud. I laugh mostly because I remember a similar moment of enlightenment when I learned of mounts.

I'm still learning new things after playing the game for a few years!
