Hacking Victory Conditions
I'm playing a multiplayer game with 9 others using the Orania map and victory points. For that configuration the docs indicated that there should be 13 1 point provinces and one 2 point province so this is what I input when setting up the game. We agreed that with 10 people 8 victory points would be more than enought. Well, it looks like we got twice as many victory point provinces (30 instead of 15) and getting 8 will be very easy. We should have restarted right away, but we didn't notice how bad it was. Is there a way to change the number of victory points required either by a setting, by player agreement (continuing the game after someone gets 8 victory points) or by modifying one of the game files?

I dont think you can change the VCs once the game has begun. Even if you all agree, once one of you gets 8, the next hosting will generate a message saying "Rejoyce!" etc., and you will be unable to continue. Anyhow, I think this is the case.

I think the victory locations are already on the map, if you specify more during setup they are added as extra random victory locations.
Either way I do not think there is anyway to change it once it is done.

Maybe if you hack the map to have fewer VP's and make everyone use the hacked Version of the map?
Another idea would be, since Orania has some special defenders for it's victory locations, mod the un-summon-able monsters which guard some of those locations, so they are _really_ formidable...

P.S. The second idea would only work if the game is already using some mod, though, and would require everyone changing that mod to a new Version.

PvK, I believe the map file is only needed when creating the game, and so it would not work here. I know my players did not need my modified Theater of War map file, so the game seems to store all relevant data (neighbour provinces, set VPs and so on) on its own.
If you are very lucky, Illwinter might have some tool to alter the game file(s), perhaps allowing them to override the victory conditions. That, however, is not really likely, and would require Illwinter to have some free time on their hands as well; not that I am their spokesman of course.
