Body parts
In my past few games I tried to find a way to make non magic commanders more usefull. It is the same with all close combat characters: As long as they are not immortal or have recuperation, their abilities will constantly decrease trough battle afflictions.
I would like to replace lost body parts with artifacts. Maybe things like an mechanical arm or such for my most veteran front line commanders.
What do you think about this?

Re: Body parts
It's an interesting idea, but AFAIK, the game presently does not support the "curing" of afflictions by adding magical items. You can gain afflictions via items, but I don't think you can lose afflictions via the same mechanism.

Re: Body parts
So if a commander has lost an eye and you give him a magical one, he becomes blind rather than using the empty socket?

IIRC, yes. I'm pretty sure there are several old threads discussing that exact issue, which players consider a "bug".

No, he puts it in the empty socket. The problem comes when he picks up _another_ eye off the battlefield, since they are cursed and therefore more likely to be found.

Re: Body parts
Funny - I recall the exact opposite being claimed in a thread. i.e. That a one-eyed commander would automatically 'use' the empty socket if you gave him a magical eye.
Edit: In other words, I'm agreeing with Graeme, who posted while I was composing my masterpiece. I was replying to the poster before him.
On the other hand, coding this behaviour would presumably involve an extra variable, as you would have to keep a seperate track of how many eyes the commander had lost, and how many eye-replacing items he had.
Anyone have a savegame with a one-eyed commander ready to test this?
