Summoning Question

I am sorry for the rapid-fire questions but I am so excited about this game...

Anyways, there are certain powerful summoned creatures who are supposedly limited in number. For instance, there are onl 3 or 5 of certain high level devils. Does this mean that once people summon 3 or 5 in the game, you can't summon any more?
