Is Starfury worth it for me ?
Hi People,
As an SE4 fan, I am trying to make my mind on starfury.
So my problem is : will I like it ?
Where will find a review of it ?
How is the game ?
What's fun about it ?
To which other games would you compare it ?

EDIT - of course, I forgot the most important way of all to test out the game - get the demo and see for yourself!

That depends on what you are looking for in a game. See the answers below.

Right here. Check out the threads with titles that register displeasure with the game, and read the pros and cons that come up. That should give you a good idea what to expect.

As far as game looks and playstyle, it's closest to the Starfleet Command game series (space combat in 2D with 3D models), but somewhat less complex.
Well, I like it. In addition to the combat, There is also the added dimension of trade runs and various other missions. Sure, it doesn't have 3D, or the latest gonzo graphics, but it's good for the level of play it's going for.
What's the most fun about any Space Empires game? Modding, of course!

Re: Is Starfury worth it for me ?
When I buy a game, I am usually very selective, especially now with a wife and kids. When I was single I used to buy and play a lot more games. I look at it this way, some of the things I don't think twice about paying for: $5-$6 for lunch, ($6-$8)x2 for a movie, $50-$60 for a decent dinner out with my wife (throw in some wine or drinks and add ~$20). There are lots of examples, but my reasoning is I look at the expense of a computer game and the time I expect it will keep me interested. The question I ask myself is how many $/hour is this game going to be worth. FWIW, If you want my opinion, if the Starfury demo is any indication, this game has already passed my criteria many times over. I have ordered the game but haven't received it yet and am willing to say that I am satisfied that it was money well spent based on playability of the demo alone. Other opinions will vary on this of course.
Don't get me wrong, if you can't spare the money or if you are looking for the game to blow away all other games, spending money on a game is probably the wrong answer. If your expectation on any game is too high, you will be disappointed. Nowadays, unfortunately it is expected that games will be realeased with bugs (don't want to get into that argument here), so you have to expect a hopefully small number of patches, etc. You have been through this drill before.
Another reason for me for buying Starfury is that I have loved SE3 and SE4 so much and have spent so many hours playing them that I am very much looking forward to SE5. As a small company, MM needs all the income it can get so I supported it by buying SF. I have never felt this way toward a game company before. But everything about MM's way of doing business is great: great customer satisfaction, great support with patches that not only fix bugs but add to the game, etc.
Slick.

Re: Is Starfury worth it for me ?
Like Slick says: d/l and play the demo and see if you like the gameplay. As soon as I have the $$ I am going to purchase the game. There issues with the game for me (controls mainly) BUT even with some wonkiness to controls the gameplay is good enough to warrant a purchase.
