Quick one: Does regeneration stack?

Werewolf shapeshift + shroud of battlesaint with nature bless + ring of regen.

Also a question on casting mirror image on Eriu natural mirror image SC (say as the 4th scripted spell when the other images are gone)... will the Thug get a new set of images?

regeneration from different items stack.

So shroud, plus ring regen, plus hydra armor all give regen.

Regeneration from one spell will augment the items, but only 1 spell will work. You can cast personal regeneration with the above items and all will stack, but cast a second spell with regeneration as a component like Strength of Gaia, and it will not stack.

You can also add a Ring of Lycanthropy for more regen if you don't mind being beserk.

Also I'm wondering how strong the Fire Shield from the Charcoal Shield is. My guess is that if you have a decent level in fire magic, you will probably get a stronger Fire Shield by casting it yourself.

Units with glamour count as having mirror image already in combat and won't cast it on themselves, but deviate from the script if you're trying to do it.

My experience says that there are common rules for abilities stacking and not stacking.
When you cast more than one spell with similar effect (giving regen, prec, mr, quickness or anything else), only the highest of all effects will work.
OTOH, when you use multiple items with similar effect, the effects stack and they will also stack with the spell you cast.
However, it always seemed to me that you can't cast personal regeneration when you already have regen.

I do it all the time. My statement that you can cast personal regeneration and it stacks with ring regeneration was based on
actual gameplay by me. It was not a theoretical guess.
