Game engine question (sorta)
Something that kind of stops me enjoying games like WinSPWW2 is I'm never sure how much credit to give the AI/COM player. I never know whether to attribute my losses in armor and people to the computer player outfoxing me on the battlefield, or due to some kind of cheapness or scripting in the game engine.
I've been playing for years, but still like a monkey commander I get my trucks blown up seemingly in good cover, my tanks dive-bombed by Stukas even when I seemed to be guarding them well, my artillery taken out, etc. and I'm never entirely sure if I'm just a ****ty commander (likely as I play the WinSPWW2 medicinally-enhanced version most often, which is far more expensive than the CD version in the long run) or if I've done things right and still got my guys wrecked anyway (just like happens in real war).
So that's what I usually do, and deploy like I would in real life (though often somewhat braver than I would have been in real life). But I'm curious to know if I should ever be skeptical at how easily the AA seems to take out my forces via air strikes and artillery, versus how comparatively useless I seem to be in the same areas.
