Yeah it's possible. You copystats a unique unit. The best two for copystatting with the least 'stuff' attached to them are two of Bogus' group - the troll archer and the human mage. One has stealth you can't get rid of, the other has regen you can reduce to 1% or so, but can't get rid of.
