If he wants (as it seems) to bring the obscure 6pdr designation to metrocentric reader (such as me though thanks to SP I am well versed in various x-pounders) he should use gun parameter used in metrocentric circles, ie caliber, not transferring the gun designation to metric units as it's meaningless, if not even confusing. I get started any time I see it in translations (OK, comapred to 45mm pistols some translators are creating when tackling with .45 and so on, this is less serious but still it doesn't seem right).
