Check out the SE4 Modding Tutorial, in my sig. It has a section on how to make capturable racial techs. It applies to unique techs as well.

Thanks that works. Seems like a bit of a bug that you can analyze ships to get tech you don't have the pre-requisites for but you can't get it through a trade. |
