Can\'t install SE4G on Win2000 pro laptop...

I thought game worked on Win2000 ?
Can I work around this by copying the game files form my other PC (via a burned CD ..) ?

Ways around it.

1. Stop services until the program that is conflicting with the install shield of seiv is shut down.
2. install game on another system and move that directory over to your 2000 lap top. ( I cannot remember if your allowed to have a copy of seiv on more than one machine. That way if you ever get asked at work you can produce the license.And I highly recommend if you have the game installed on your work computer that you carry the license with that computer.)


RICHARD are you allowed to have a copy of seiv on more than one system????

So good luck finding out the conflict. becasue this game works on all the flavours of the windows world.

Just burned a CD with a big zip of all my SE4 stuff (460 Mb !!!), put that back on the laptop and YOOOOHOOOO, it works !!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

The trick was that those stupid *ssh .. umh admins at office that lend me the laptop did'nt allow Users to edit registry, so the installer crashed ... but SE4 does not use registry in-game it seems, so no problemo copying via file system http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Errr I swear I don't warez anything, I'm a fully legal customer and I just can't carry my home PC on a business trip http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif ! Noone will play here when I'll be abroad neither...

I believe that you are allowed to make as many installs of SEIV as you want to.

If the EULA is the same as most other games out there, you can make as many installs as you want, as long as you only use one at a time. In other words, you can have one on your computer, and one on your wives computer, but you can't use both at the same time. Or one on your laptop, and one on your desktop, you can't play against your buddy with him using the laptop and you the desktop, unless he also buys SEIV. Legally, at least, and morally, also, in my system of morals.

Actually, IIRC, Richard has said that installing multiple copies on computers you own for the purpose of playing multiplayer over a LAN or something is acceptable.

Well, I admit I haven't read the EULA for SEIV, so it could very well say that. I'm not too worried about it, as I have my own copy of SEIVG, and haven't yet played any multi player. When I do, I'll take a look at the EULA.
