TRPs and FOs

Looking for some advice with TRPs and FOs.

During meeting engagements, I try to put TRPs on two places:

1) places that are far apart. That way I can switch fires from one part of the map to the other with no delay.
2) terrain where the enemy will be staying put to guard objectives.
3) key terrain

The only problem is I notice I tend to already overrun TRPs. Any good advice with that.

Also, during a battle, my FOs are usually just doing map fire because smoke screens are covering the objective. Should I send them out on their own on the flanks or up with the troops?

On a meeter - I place gold spots on the enemy side of objective clusters, on a likely approach (e.g a road or defilade), and far enough in front so that they can be used for danger-close FPF missions for own forces, once they have taken the cluster and advanced slightly towards the enemy side. (try not to defend right on the V-hexes). So - say 4-8 hexes over on the enemy side.

While you are approaching - fire harassing missions onto/around these gold spots, in order to smack any approaching enemy. Direct your planes onto them when you think the AI is coming close..

As to moving FOs about - some like to do that, others are happy to use them for map fire. Some like foot FO teams, others vehicles. (In MBT, FOO can have GSR or Thermals to look through smoke of course).

Me - if I can easily shift an FO team (no TI) to get eyes-on then I may do so, but if it needs a massive move (I dont like to have idle passenger FOOs!), then probably not. I use the FOO to call in the mission (quickly) often enough - once finished, then a leader with a radio and eyes-on can spot adjusting from the last impact with little delay if a repeat is required.

Cheers
Andy
