More mac problems (Server shuts down randomly)
I turn on two Dominion servers (I copied the application creating a dominions3 folder and a dominions3_2 folder so that mac could run two copies of dominions)
I come back some time later and all of a sudden one server isn't running. Mac keeps closing one server down. It's closing the dominions app from dominions3_2. WHAT THE (curse word here)!!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif |
Re: More mac problems
You don't need to do that.
You can run as many servers as you want from one installation. |
Re: More mac problems
VFB, tell me how, because I tried opening the same app twice. It doesn't work.
Also, I got it to work. I had dominions3 and dominions3_2 in the same place. I put dominions3_2 elsewhere. It stopped closing itself. |
Re: More mac problems
Like this (old game I ran):
dom314 -T -S --port 8098 --noclientstart -q --uploadmaxp 11 --noscoregraphs --mapfile Whyte.map --renaming --masterpass b1q2fw4f --era 2 -s Whyte & dom314 -T -S --port 8099 --noclientstart -q --uploadmaxp 11 --noscoregraphs --mapfile Other.map --renaming --masterpass b1q2fw4f --era 2 -s Other & -T runs in text-only mode. You should have some kind of console on the Mac to run it from. Some of the other options are game-start options you may not want or need. dom314 is a symbolic link to my executable, you should use whatever command name it has on your system. 'dom314 --help' explains all the options. |
Re: More mac problems
so i need to use the mac terminal? how the heck does that even work? Do you realize I hate Macs and therefor have NO experience with a mac whatsoever and everything about a mac pisses me off? Oh well. I got it working. No need to learn how to work the terminal.

Re: More mac problems
The Terminal is your God on the Mac OS. Learn to use it, or die!

Re: More mac problems
ok, maybe I'll give it a shot.

Re: More mac problems
WHAT THE HECK! This morning, I come back, the Mac is in sleep mode. I set the COMPUTER to never sleep, I set the SCREEN to sleep in 10 minutes. First of all, the computer's screen NEVER turns off when I'm running Dominions. That is what leads me to believe that the COMPUTER DID GO TO SLEEP MODE even after I set it not to. I come back... guess what? Both dominion servers are closed. Not just one, NOW IT'S BOTH! Does running dominions only work if you use text mode with the terminal? THIS MAC IS PSSING THE (curse word here) OUT OF ME!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: More mac problems
Ok, I got to the terminal, I got to the dominions directory and got stuck from there. Any help? What is the command to run the dominions.app?

Re: More mac problems
If you don't have multiple installations of different versions of dominions on your system, you don't need a link like my dom314.
I'm sorry, but I don't know much about Macs. I think your executable is called dom3_ppc, but it could be dom3_x86 if you got an Intel CPU. You can also try just dom3, maybe try these commands until one works: dom3 --help ./dom3 --help dom3_ppc --help ./dom3_ppc --help dom3_x86 --help ./dom3_x86 --help |
