Quick question.

Does anyone know how to create a ship that will join your fleet without compensation such as Ripcord's fighter?

The quick answer: copy the ripcord.ini file in gamedata/quests and change the parameters within. The SHIP line in the PAGE block gives you a non-mercenary ally ship, in this case the 5th ship defined in gamedata/races/terran.ini (numbers start at zero).
