2 small Ryleh questions

Normally, you get 1 point of penetration for every 2 points a mage has in a path above the required spell level. But for Mind BLast, for which magic resistance is calculated, there is no spell requirement -- so anyone know how penetration is calculated?

The other small question is whether anyone has found anything conclusive on whether luck scales affect void summoning; I haven't seen much difference either way, but am no natural scientist.

Thanks in advance

MindbLast is simply put a missile weapon that always hits. If target doesn't make it's magicresistance "save" against the sum of two open ended 'dice' it gets damaged.

Luck does affect summoning quality but you're right that the difference is pretty slight.

Thank you very much.

Sorry to be a pain here, but does what you are saying mean that there is no penetration value for mind bLast and penetration cannot be increased?

No worries Thinkthank. My explanation wasn't the best either. Think about MindbLast as a missile weapon that uses Magic Resistance instead of Protection to determine if the units gets damaged. It has the penetration value of an unmodified spell cast by a level 1 mage but since it's not really a spell it can not be improved by levels in astral.

In fact, if it wasn't for the stun and 100 precision, mindbLast would be a fairly lousy weapon.

Spellfocus does nothing. If you really want to give the squids an edge in this way make them use the "Mind Burn" spell since it works much like mindbLast.
