Hmmm ? Mysterious death ?
 

Okay,im playing the demon lord guy as my avatar.
I have conquered 3/4 of the world,have the Last survivor bottled up ,they cant break though my lines and my rear provinces all have at least 60 def ,then out of nowhere i get a message my Pretender has died ??? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

Hes sitting safe in his fort ,with over 300 undead guarding him.With Over 20 priests watching over him. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

The message gave no explanation,no reason at all for my pretenders death. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

So, is this a bug ? Or did something occur that there is no message for ?

Ummm, okay. So my pretender was killed with a spell then ?

How come theres no message telling me this ?

Is there any defense agaisnt this ?

Seems way too powerful for a level 4 spell.

You can counter it by having an Astral mage(a Sage with 1-astral is enough) in the province or casting domes.

Even Mind Hunt gives a message, if memory serves; "Foo was mentally attacked by an enemy mage". Seeking arrows also result in Messages ("Suddenly an arrow appeared out of the sky and struck Foo straight in the heart" etc).
So does Manifestation and Earth Attack, both of which result in actual battles.
Practically every remote-attack spell results in an informative message. What was the exact message?
(Alternative to spell: death due to disease).

I cant give the exact message becuase the game ended when i ended my turn.

I thought my pretender would just respawn .

All it said though was, that my pretended had died.

It didnt give any reason at all.

Can your pretender die from low dominion ?
If so, does it give a message when it happens ?

Okay, it seems i can see the exact message by staring the game again and redoing Last turn.

It says "Tim the Slayer Lord God of Ermor has been permanently vanquished.At the end his dominion did not touch a single province and his lifeforce died with his dominion"

It give no explanantion on how i died .

I'll also guess disease. Did you ever make a Fever Fetish, for example? Diseased units lose 1 HP per turn, and eventually die, and then drop their items, which are picked up by other commanders...

If your god is killed, you can bring him back. But if your dominion is dead everywhere, the god goes "poof".

I dont understand the whole "Dominion " thing.

So my god died because my dominion in the province he was in got too low right ?

So why didnt he just respawn in another province in which the dominion was good ?

Also, a message explaining the cause of his death wouldve been nice.

Im not complaining here, i like the game alot,but a message telling me why my prtender died would have saved me alot of confusion on this http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

That is very, very strange. Unless you had very few temples and the remaining AI had an extremely strong dominion and temples in all his provinces, you should have had at least /some/ dominion somewhere. Death by dominion only happens when you have no dominion left anywhere... and your temples, prophet and pretender all provide some.
