Treaty level bug?

I managed to get two AI races (one neutral, one real) to agree to subjugation treaties with me even though I had never seen their systems before. I think the suckeers opened a warp point from somewhere and ran into one of my fleets. I would have SUPPOSED that subjugation or protectorate would give you access to things like blueprints, system maps, telemetry.. all the stuff you get from a partnership.

I had never really noticed it before since I had never gotten someone into one of those treaties that I didnt already have maps for - but when they agreed to the treaty (and i started recieving tarrifs from them) I never saw where their systems connected.

Is this a bug or is it intentional?

I don't think you are supposed to get maps from those treaties. You do get resources and ship designs of those races that are subjugated to you, unlike the Partnership where your partner gives you enemy ship designs instead of his.

I think getting a subjected race's maps would be a good idea. I also think it'd be nice if you got some kind of notification when somebody attacks an empire you have subjectated or under protection.

I had a empire under my protection in a game I played not too long ago. Fat lot of good it did them when somebody came in and wiped them out without my even hearing about it until the notice they went bye-bye!

Puke,

THat bug should have been fixed. Were you playing one of those no worm hole games? There is a formula that determines when a race agrees to be taken over. I am willing to bet if you played the no wormhole option the other races didn't have enough tech or planets or such to think about fighting you. One of the problems with playing that type of game.

That could have been it, even so I would expect to get the charts from them. Actually, it was a no wormhole game, but I was only in second place since. It was a 10 homeworld, high technology start and I had blocaded myself in my home system for the first 4 years to convert atmospheres, build a sphereworld (cause i could) and give the AI a head start..
