To my knowledge there does not seem to be. I recall converting millions of resources per turn in a certain Proportions + FQM PBW game. Of course, there could be some limit, but it is just really big.

I think its the same max that applies to trades and gifts; however much you have in storage.

There is a limit, I think. IIRC, if you order a whole ton of conVersion at one location, the planet gets several orders in its queue which it chugs through, but very quickly.

Well, I do convert also quite much resources in a turn, but I haven't converted 4 million yet. Best I think was 3 million. There should be possibility find "super storage" which could include 100 000 resources. That would be nice, would it not? By the way, Tesco, against who you are going to go? My fleet is growing bored http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

multi-storage facilities.

Re: Is there a max for Resource Converters

As far as I know there is a limit per order of about one million converted target resources. If you try more, the conVersion will stop at this amount. However you can give more than one order per turn and therefore there is no practical limit. In my current game I convert about 9-10 millions per turn and I just have click several times the resource conVersion button and give the order for about one million.

Re: Is there a max for Resource Converters

I've always thought that the Resource Converter was a little too good. I think that there should be a modest maximum that a given RC can convert. This would make the game more realistic in that you would have to build more RC's to convert more resources. It would also force empires to actually try to mine what they need instead of mining the highest resource and converting later.

Just my $0.02

yea like it was all automated... or planets only had one resource on them... but automated on exchange...

Slick, specific mines are silly. Monoliths are the only way to go. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Is there a max for Resource Converters

First, in the context of my post and the subject at hand, monoliths are mines since they are producing the resources directly instead of using a resource converter. So would be solar generators or any other resource (m,o,r) producing facility.

Second, the math says otherwise unless you can live with a break even point many many turns in the future. I don't wish to argue the point and I know that this has come up before. If you are happy with monoliths, great.

Slick.

Re: Is there a max for Resource Converters

The math does not say otherwise when you factor in all of the variables. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Set up your empire so that you can build monoliths in just 3 turns at planets with a SY, and that break even point comes much sooner. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Add a value improvement plant and the break even point comes sooner. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Long term planning is the way to win a game, not short sighted planning. Games are not won in 30 turns in most cases, you know. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

That, and I have created much more powerful economies with monoliths than those players with sometimes larger empires using normal miners in many, many PBW games. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
