Roundhammer
Finished first battle of Roundhammer last night. Decisive victory! Men-30, Soft Veh.-1 & APC-3 in 10 Turns. No armor lost. Combined arm's is the key. The second battle looks very interesting. Can hardly wait to start it.

Re: Roundhammer
Battle#2: I am on turn 5. So far I am getting pounded. I used some airborne troops and one plane load of them landed right on top of a nest of Germans! That cost them their lives. Another plane was blown out of the sky. It did drop the troops before it crashed into the town. That was really neat to watch though. I'd say so far I have 25% casualties in my airborne force. In my beach assault one landing craft has been lost, along with a platoon of infantry to the Luftwaffe but the rest are on the beach or very close to it. I will keep you informed.

Re: Roundhammer
Well it didn't turn out to well. We were defeated. A lot of rookie mistakes. I'll explain it as best as I can.
My plan was to land infantry on the flanks and armour with engineers in the center. The landing on the flanks part went O.K. but a good deal of the armour got stuck in the mud on the beaches. My troops pushed inland too slowly it turned out as time was also my enemy when they got to the final assault on the town. I used my paratroopers to help open routes into town but think they may have been better used to start an earlier attack on the town. It ended up with less than half of the objective's in my hands as time ran out, about 2 turns earlier than what I think I needed to accomplish my mission. Oh well. You can't win them all. I learned some valuable lesson's for many battles in my future. As another gamer say's "I love this game". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Roundhammer
I daresay abn troops in this scenario are waste of points, but then I think so always so I am biased http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: Roundhammer
Thanks for the AAR. I always learn more in defeat than victory, but alas victory is more satisfying.

Re: Roundhammer
After reading your AAR's I got the bug for some German armour. One of the game's I've got going right now is a late war(44-46)long campaign. Can hardly wait to read more of your exploits. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
BTW what is a Hubz? |
Re: Roundhammer
It's short form I invented for Hubschrauber (Hubz) Helicopter (Helo) I armed and armoured the Drache. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif
I figure it a week or so my new Campaign AAR will start. Bob out Quote:

Thank's PanzerBob. My redneck mind just had a hard time picking that up. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
Am looking forward to AAR's. |
Re: Roundhammer
Wow - please post your custom OOB with the Angriffshubschrauber!! I'm normally not so fond of such what-if scenarios but in this case I'll make an exception ;-))) - and as we know the Germans had a real fancy for futuristic weapons (ever heard about 'Midgard-Schlange' and other projects like that?) and arming a helo ain't such an unlikely idea to have ...

Re: Roundhammer
Good day,
I'm going to be starting a new AAR in few days time and as part of the prelude to it will be attaching the OOB's involved. This will include my "Hubz" some X Panzers, an IFV, X Spahwagens, X Aircraft and Weapons plus new Squads and some Units. This will also include changes to the US, UK and Canadian OOB's. I just have a couple things to play test left and I'll be forming up for my first battle. |
Re: Roundhammer
Back again, I was interupted
As for the 'Midgard-Schlange' and other X Projects I'm very aware and while I could see no need for a Mole device the other E Projects figure in my Altenate History. |
